What Is the DasherDirect Prepaid Card?
Many know the DasherDirect as a prepaid debit card that DoorDash offers.
However, it’s more than that.
It’s also a Payfare-powered mobile banking app that US-based Dashers can use to gain access to features like:
- Cashback on gas
- No-fee daily payouts from DoorDash
- And more
In short, it’s an excellent debit card that’ll save you a lot of money on gas and enables you to access your hard-earned money earlier.
How Does the DasherDirect Card Work?
The DasherDirect prepaid card allows you to receive your DoorDash earnings daily—an excellent alternative to having to use their fee-driven Fast Pay system.
Moreover, you can use the DasherDirect mobile app to access basic banking functions.
From there, you can look at your balance and transfer money without minimum balance requirements or having to pay fees.
However, you may want to keep in mind that it will take 24–48 hours for your funds to appear in your account after the payout.
So you might not see your money right away.
What can you use this card for?
One of the prepaid debit card’s main perks is that you get 2% cash back on gas purchases at any gas station.
Because of this, you can save a lot if you’re frequently driving.
You could also use the card to send funds or pay bills.
You should note that the cash back only applies to gas and nothing else.
Fortunately, there are no monthly maintenance fees with this card or when you use one of their partner ATMs.
But, if you make direct deposits, Visa may charge you a fee of around $4.95 per reload.
Moreover, a couple of other fees include:
- Card replacement: $5
- Balance refund check: $3.50
- Inactivity fee: $2.50 per month after 12 months of inactivity
- Foreign transaction fees: 3% of your transaction
- Bill pay with a paper check: $1 per check used
- Non-network ATM fees: $2.50 per transaction
Perks and Benefits of the DasherDirect Card
If you’re a Dasher who’s curious about the perks and benefits of a DasherDirect card, here’s a list of them:
- No-fee ATM usage: use your card for free at more than 55,000 AllPoint ATMs
- No need to wait for earnings: you’ll have instant access to Door Dash earnings
- Cashback rewards: earn 2% cash back on gas purchases at any gas station
- No monthly fees: no per-transaction or monthly fees
- You can accept cash deposits: you can use any ReadyLink network location to make fee-free cash (on DoorDash’s side) deposits
How to Use the DasherDirect Card
While you’re waiting for your Dasher card, you can use DoorDash’s virtual DasherDirect card to access basic banking features through a separate app.
Why’s that?
Because without it, you can’t access your banking features.
You also can’t see your reward and goal balances.
It’s also helpful to have this app to give you a map to ATMs that won’t charge you fees for using the card.
Moreover, with the app, you have access to various features.
You can lock your card to prevent unauthorized transactions.
Also, you can change your PIN if you forget it and see when you activated your card for reference.
Fortunately, you use this card just like any other debit or credit card (like the DoorDash Red Card)
Once you receive it, you set your PIN, and afterward, you pay for whatever you buy and run the card as debit or credit.
It’s important to remember to check your card’s balance before using it as you may find that there has been a delay with transferring funds into your account.
It’s inconvenient to find yourself at the mercy of DoorDash.
However, it’s still a convenient card that integrates a basic banking system with their ecosystem.

Frequently Asked Questions
While we covered a lot of information related to the DasherDirect card, there are still many questions.
Ones that others interested in this card have asked while researching whether they should get it.
Read along, and you might find the answer to a question that you didn’t know you had.
How long does Dasher direct deposit take?
A Dasher direct deposit will appear in your bank account between 2–3 business days.
Usually, DoorDash initiates direct deposits early in the morning on Monday.
Therefore, payments should appear in your account by Wednesday night.
Conversely, if you use Fast Pay, you’ll get to cash out your earnings for only $1.99 instantly.
Can I still use fast pay with DasherDirect?
No, you can’t use Fast Pay with DasherDirect.
On DoorDash’s website, they state that the feature is unavailable if you have their prepaid debit card.
However, if you believe that you should have Fast Pay anyway, you should contact DoorDash customer service.
Does DoorDash hold your first paycheck?
DoorDash does not hold your first paycheck.
Their payment weeks run Monday through Sunday, and they initiate their deposits on Monday.
How many times can you cash out with DasherDirect?
Some user-generated content throughout the web states that you can cash out at least twice a day.
But, we couldn’t find any content with a definite number on how many times a day that you can cash out with DasherDirect.
However, if DasherDirect is anything like Fast Pay, you can cash out once per day, and you would see your earnings 24–48 hours later.
Wrapping Up
The DasherDirect prepaid debit card enables DoorDash to pay its drivers quicker.
Moreover, it offers several other benefits like cash back on gas, cash deposit, and free-of-fee operations.
Moreover, Payfair and DoorDash offer an app to make the process even more convenient.
Thankfully, it’s not difficult to use or get your hands on the card.
You just go through the app, tap an icon, fill out some information and wait for your mail.
Moreover, we hope that out of the many frequently asked questions, one of them was one that you didn’t know that you needed to know about.
However, there’s not too much that you need to know about the card.
If you’re interested in signing up for Doordash’s card, make your way into the app now and get yourself started.
That way, you can get your card and start earning cash back sooner.
When moving funds from the card available to the “GOAL” section as specified in the app, the Dasher Direct card DOES NOT provide a method in case of an emergency to just as easily move the same funds right back into the available section without delay just as there was no delay moving funds into the so-called “GOAL” section. …talk about stupid (or was that intentional …if so, thats wrong)
I’m going through that now. Did you get your money back from the “goal” area? How do you use that money? So frustrating
Ok I found it… go to “move funds” from the main screen (scroll down)and select the account goals and move funds back to main account.. this will allow you to put the money back from “goals” instantly
Thank you Kendra! I tried calling DasherDirect but could never get anyone to answer
how long does it take to get your card? its been 2 weeks
I was just told today 3 weeks from the day you ordered it. Have you ever heard of a card taking 3 weeks to be mailed to you? I DONT THINK SO!! We can drive our cars put wear & tear on them plus all the miles you drive & make door dash lots of money which I’m sure Door dash gets their money that day. But you have to wait 3 weeks for your card. Plus you have to work one week before you can transfer your money onto another card ,Then wait 2 days (business days mon-fri only) to get any money. And Door Dash only pays $2.50, Watch out when you drive more miles your pay is supposed to go up, Good luck on that. Or if restaurants are closed after you received an order. Door dash don’t pay much on that either. How much money Door dash makes you would think they would pay more & make sure you can get to your own money the same day. It only takes a card to be made and sent out to you in 3 to 5 days sometimes 7 days. I would like to know why Door Dash takes three weeks? It’s like they do it on purpose!
It took a little less then 2 weeks for me but or mask runs really slow cause we don’t always have a mailman in our neighborhood because if staffing shortage
When did u get it?? I’m going on almost a week can’t access my money only with online stuff so doesn’t help when need gas an smokes. Smh
Same here. Im almost out of gas no food i have 3 dogs live in my car. How is any of this faster?? Or instantly when we are having to wait days for our money?? My insurance is due.. Thanks for nothing door dash. Im going back to uber. I dont have to deal with any kind of bull shit. I got lost on a delivery and uber still payed me 40.00. Door dash sucks ass
You can always add dasher direct card to Apple Pay and use it there or transfer to Apple Card or another card in your apple wallet.
I’m not sure if this is still the question at hand but after some trial and error I found a way to get gas with your virtual card. If there is a wawa gas station near you go online and buy an e-gift card from their website. You can use your virtual card to do this. Once the e-gift card is sent to your email you can open it up and there is a barcode for the cashier to scan. Works just like a gift card would. You can use it to buy gas or whatever else you want in the store. Another thing I had to do while I waited for my physical card is, well of course, eat. So I linked my virtual card to the McDonald’s app and ordered all my food through the mobile order feature inside of the app. That way you atleast have gas and food until your card comes. Hope this was helpful!
Awesome Derrick, thank you so much very helpful info for dashes. I will do this today!
Ive tried that with McDonald’s didnt work for me tho im gonna try the gas card tho thanks for the tip.
How long it take for my money to show up on my personal bank account after I sent it from the DasherDirect account?
I have the Virtual Card until my actual card shows up. I want to transfer the funds on it into my bank account. Can I do that? Is there a way to do that, because I thought it would be easy, but I can’t seem to do it….
If Visa charges $4.95 per re-load then it is not free. Each and every time you have to add on $5 to get money loaded onto it? That could add up fast. I’m shocked Door Dasher is not only promoting this but claiming there are no fees associated with getting your money. 🙁 False advertising. 🙁
Highway robbery the same shit is happening to me …….I’m paying door dash to deliver. Literally 31 runs. 5 dollars a run paid to them what a joke. Everyone look out it’s a racket you also I am literally paying doordash to do and deliver their orders what a racket I got 31 trips in $5 a trip add that up thanks doordash you’re liars
Stop taking low paying and no tip orders. You can easily decline orders not worth the payout per mile
I have 17 Door Dash pays on my account so far and don’t see any fees associated with the money being sent to be put on the card. I’m still waiting for the physical card to show up in the mail and it has been over two weeks now. And yes you can transfer the money to your bank account, I have tested this option already. It took about 2 or 3 business days though.
How can I download all of my redcard transactions? I want to keep track for my budget.
How do I add cash onto the dasher direct card? I have the physical card and the looked at the participating ATMs but there’s no deposit button when I insert card! Please help I need the money on my card in time for the withdrawal
How do I use virtual card for gas without asking for a pin with Apple Pay
I’m trying to figure out the samething! 🙁
My son uses his virtual card through Google pay. I have my pay direct deposited once a week into my cash app account.
If you have any other means for banking…USE IT! I understand how convenient it is to get paid after a Dash and the 2% cash back on gas is awesome. However, if you ever have any issues (a failed bill pay, unrecognized transaction, etc.), there is absolutely no one that you can contact. Yes, they have a “need more help” button when you look for help in the app…BUT…BUT, the number that they route you to (during their business hours) goes to Door Dash driver support (not Dasher Direct). MIRACULOUSLY, once they have closed for business, all of a sudden they have the correct phone number only for them to tell you that they are closed. It is absolute BS. You just have to hope that whatever issue there is automatically will fix itself.
Can you use DoorDash direct card for Uber eats direct deposits ??
Thanks in advance
I am New to door dash and would like to know if I still need to have 25 deliveries before the money goes into my dasher direct card?
I want to take advantage of the 10% cash back for gas. If I have the card does it go on my card automatically? Does anyone know if I can go to my bank with that card and have the money taken off the card and put into my bank?
Thinking about getting this; cash back for gas & no DirectPay fee would be great. But it sounds like dashers can’t access this money for weeks after enrolling?? Is it possible to VENMO yourself from your virtual DasherDirect?
Is the money taxable with over $600 of earnings if the money is put on the DasherDirect card instead of direct deposit?
Has anyone made a deposit from somewhere else to your card before. I deposited my refund on my dasher card and am wondering if it’ll go through
Following. I did the same thing. Let me know if it works for you and I’ll do the same.
@Tim each dash goes onto card immediately after you complete dash. One dash is not one order. Each dash is the complete start to end dash time, then it goes straight to your dasher direct Visa card for use.
At almost every gas station you have to have at least $75 balance on the card for it to work because they put a $75 hold on it this is per Dasher direct customer service
DoorDash seriously needs to up their base rates. I’m sorry but gas is $4-$5 a gal. A $3 order plus possible $2 tip isn’t even worth my time not to mention the wear and tear on my car.
I set my federal refund to.be sent to my dasher direct card via direct deposit and stil lb have not received it . Anybody know how long it takes once it’s sent to your bank
Guys, it’s only suppose to take “14” days for your DasherDirect card to get to you. No more then that. Until then, while waiting for your card, you CAN use your virtual DasherDirect card. Just open the DasherDirect app & use your virtual card.
How come it isn’t showing up? The earnings on my dasher direct?? It’s the virtual card it’s not going onto it?? I have 70 $ in there I can’t even get gas wit the virtual card or even do anything??? Someone help
