How to Claim an Uber Eats Referral Code

To claim an Uber Eats driver bonus during signup, follow these steps:

  1. Use a Referral Link: Sign up as an Uber Eats driver through a valid referral link provided by an existing driver.
  2. Complete Deliveries: After signing up, you need to complete a set number of deliveries. The required number varies by location, typically ranging from 20 to 100 deliveries.
  3. Reach the Goal in Time: Most drivers are expected to meet this delivery goal within 90 days of their initial sign-up.
  4. Receive Your Bonus: Once you achieve the required number of deliveries within the stipulated timeframe, Uber Eats will issue your sign-up bonus.

If you have any questions along the way, refer to your Uber Eats driver app, which will automatically track your progress.

How Uber Eats Referral Codes Work for Referred Drivers

An Uber Eats driver referral code is the promo code that Uber Eats drivers can use during signup to unlock a new driver promotion or bonus in the city in which they are applying to drive.

After the bonus is applied, a driver can usually finish completing the sign up process. Once complete, they will be able to choose what type of bonus they’d like to claim – a set cash bonus or a per-trip bonus.

How Uber Eats Referral Codes Work for Referring Drivers

The Uber Eats driver referral code is a code Uber gives its drivers to help them earn money from referrals.

If you get people you know to sign up as Uber Eats drivers using your referral code, you can earn money even when you’re not on the road delivering packages.

What you have to do is help the invitee complete as many Uber Eats tasks as possible once they sign up. You, as the referrer, will get a reward if they’re successfully onboarded.

How Much Do Uber Eats Drivers Earn Per Referral?

There’s no fixed reward for drivers who want to earn money from new driver referrals. As mentioned earlier, the reward varies from city to city. To gain more insight into the rewards offered in the invitee’s city, check “Refer Friends” in your app.

How to Make Money Inviting New Drivers To Uber

Inviting your friend to become an Uber Eats driver so you can get paid is a 4-step process. Here’s how it works:

1. Invite Your Friends to Come On Board

If you know anybody with a valid driver’s license who could do with extra income, you can invite them to sign up for Uber Eats.

To find your code, you can navigate to the “Refer Friends” tab within your Uber Driver app. It should look like this:

Within that screen, you wills see options to invite friends via your contacts, or simply share the invite link using another medium such as social media or email.

You can also access and share your code using the desktop website. The process to do that is similar to the app and equally as straightforward:

  • Log in to your account via Uber’s website.
  • Navigate to your driver dashboard.
  • Visit the “Earnings” tab.
  • Tap on the three-dot icon to locate your invite tab.
  • Share your referral link via social media, email address, or messages to all friends who may be interested.

Once a driver visits your link (regardless of how it was shared), they will see an Uber sign up screen that looks like this:

Since Uber drivers can also work as Uber Eats drivers, they have a shared sign-up procedure — if they already drive for Uber, they don’t need to sign up again. The sign-up process should take no more than a few minutes.

Once the referred driver signs up using your invite code or link, you will get a notification within your Uber app, as well as an email informing you of the signup.

From there, there’s nothing else that you have to do. Simply wait for them to get activated and complete the bonus requirements.

2. Track Their Progress

Want to check how your dollars are stacking up? Track your friend’s progress on your dashboard to see how they’re doing. Sometimes they may need some friendly guidance to help them navigate their first few trips.

You can follow their progress to ensure they complete their milestone goals and help them in case they’re having issues. You can track their work details through your driver app dashboard.

3. Earn From Their Success

The more trips your invitee completes, the closer you are to receiving your earnings. Depending on the city, each invitee must finish a certain number of trips within a set time frame (and potentially meet some extra conditions) before you can earn the referral bonus.

4. Get Your Earnings

Once the specified number of trips and conditions have been fulfilled, Uber Eats will let you know.

For example, I recently had a friend that I referred to Uber Eats complete his first bonus requirement. This was a drip promotion, meaning both he and I get paid set amounts for him achieving various milestones.

This is what I received within my Uber Driver app:

After that has happened, they will also deposit the reward into your account. This will only be visible in your statement the following week.

Can You Refer an Uber Driver in a Different City?

Yes. However, the new driver must sign up to deliver in the same country as you are.

This means, for example, that if you’re based in Dallas, TX as a driver, you shouldn’t expect to earn a reward if you invite a friend who lives and works somewhere in Canada. But you can invite a friend living in San Francisco, CA.

If the invitee completes the number of trips required for new drivers in San Francisco and meets all the extra conditions stipulated by Uber, you’ll earn the referral reward for that city.

Uber’s referral requirements and bonus amounts vary per city, so you can only earn the reward for the city your invitee signs up in, not necessarily the one in which you signed up to drive and deliver.

Tips to Ensure You Receive Your Earnings

If you’re worried that your friend’s potential lack of progress will affect your referral reward, follow these steps to make it more likely you’ll receive it.

  • Check on Their Progress: You can click the “remind” button on your dashboard to remind them to finish signing up or to start their first trip. Sometimes all they need is a slight nudge to get started.
  • Offer Assistance: If they’re finding it difficult to get past a particular step, offer directions or point them to helpful info sources they can use.
  • Invite Other People: If your invited friends’ progress is delayed for whatever reason, don’t let that harm your opportunity to make more money. Share your referral code or link via social media to reach a wider range of people and follow up with their progress to win that bonus money.

But remember that invitees aren’t obligated to complete the required number of trips since they work as independent contractors.

It’s not a full-time job, so their schedule may not accommodate the hours they need to invest to complete Uber’s delivery tasks.

Brett’s Take: Thoughts From an Expert

Since I became an Uber driver years ago, I’ve referred countless drivers to Uber. I’ve referred most through this site, but also in person and around town in casual conversations.

I couple things I have learned while doing so:

Not all drivers will complete their bonuses

When I first started referring drivers to Uber, I would mentally get too attached to the outcome of the bonus. I would calculate in my head what the bonus would be before I earned it.

Don’t do this. Treat it like extra income – nice to have when it comes in – but don’t depend on it.

Uber has systems in place to detect fraud

I’ve referred quite a few drivers over the years. Occasionally, the referral limits will trip something in Uber’s systems and flag my referrals as fraud. I am still not sure why this happens, but it does.

If this happens to you, try reaching out to your local Greenlight Hub. I’ve had success appealing my case. Try this first, as Tier 1 support doesn’t really have the tools to work through this issue.

This is a great program to reward drivers who want to help the Uber platform grow. I highly suggest checking it out and getting rewarded for playing your part.

Uber Eats Driver Requirements for New Drivers

If your friend is ready to become an Uber Eats delivery driver, they may want to know the exact driver requirements.

The company permits the delivery to be done by car, scooter, or bicycle. The general requirements for these options include:

  • Meeting Uber’s age limit (18 – 19 years old).
  • Having a valid driver’s license and driving experience.
  • Submitting a Social Security number for the Uber Eats background check.

Wrapping Up

If you can convince your friend to drive with Uber Eats as an independent contractor, you stand the chance to earn a nice reward!

Share your referral codes as widely as possible, then help interested invitees successfully navigate the application process and start delivering for Uber Eats.

If they meet the required number of deliveries for their city, Uber will deposit the reward into your account.

Note that different factors, such as whether the invitees go through the required number of deliveries or not, may affect whether you earn the promised fee, but since you have nothing to lose, we think it’s worth a shot.
