Uber has defined the on-demand landscape, changing the way travelers worldwide get around. First they saved you from those uber-high (no pun intended) taxi cab fares, and now the company is back with it’s newest service: food delivery!
In today’s guide, we’re going to walk you through how the app works, and then provide a money-saving Uber Eats promo code so you can get your first order on the cheap!
Quick Section Navigation:
What Is Uber Eats?
Uber Eats brings the possibility of convenient, cheap, and fast delivery with lots of food options right to your smartphone.
All you need to do is open up the Uber Eats app on your phone, hit the meal icon at the top, enter your location and punch the view menu button. Uber will then display what’s on the menu from local restaurants in your area.
From there, just pick what you want and check out. Once you place an order, the driver picks the food up at the restaurant you ordered from and heads to your location. You’ll either meet them curbside at their car or they’ll bring it to your location to complete your delivery.
Then, all that’s left is the best part: MEALTIME!
To give you a better understanding of what new users can expect when using the service, here’s a quick step-by-step video overview of how it works:
But before you download the app and start ordering, apply a coupon code to your account before checkout. Many people don’t know this, but new users can save a good chunk of money by simply doing this quick step!
Uber Eats Promo Codes For New Users
For first time users to save money on their order, an Uber Eats coupon must be applied to their account at the time of checkout.
There are two types of promotions for new customers: a free delivery discount and a monetary discount. But which one is best?
We suggest taking the free first delivery option, as our codes granting new customers a discount of $5 off their first two orders no longer work. Whether you’re placing a delivery that requires the driver to travel a short or long distance, we suggest using the free delivery option.
Let’s take a look at each.
1. Free Delivery (Recommended)
Free delivery on an Uber Eats order is the promotion that we recommend users can look into when placing their first order.
These types of promotions are used to gain new riders, and they work like crazy. Uber gets new users, and both riders get credit for either signing up or referring somebody. It’s a win-win for all parties involved.
To claim the credit, either download the app from the Apple Store or Google Play, then enter the code “EATSYUM6” in the app. Alternatively, you can also visit ubereats.com and enter the code after logging into your user account.
This Uber Eats promo code is only good for first-time users, and can’t be applied to other promotions or another coupon. Most codes also have an expiration date, so we suggest waiting to apply the coupon until you’re ready to place your order.
Check out the tutorial towards the bottom of the page for more application information.
Additional Uber Eats Coupon Codes
|Uber Eats Promo Codes||Promotion Amount||Expiration|
|EATSYUM6||Free First Food Delivery||30 Days after Code Is Applied|
|EATSYUM7||Free First Food Delivery||30 Days after Code Is Applied|
|EATSYUM8||Free First Food Delivery||30 Days after Code Is Applied|
|EATSYUM9||Free First Food Delivery||30 Days after Code Is Applied|
*Credit amounts vary and are subject to Uber’s official terms and conditions.
2. Monetary Discount (No Longer Active)
In the past, Uber gave away a credit amount of $5 off each of the first 2 orders, to new users who downloaded the Uber Eats app in search of free food. The credit didn’t get you a free meal, but it substantially cut down on the cost you pay for it.
Unfortunately, the codes Uber gave us for this promotion are no longer active.
These types of Uber Eats promos are run in an attempt to quickly draw users into the platform. When you actually break down the economics behind free Uber delivery, it makes sense why users would choose this.
The cost of an Uber Eats delivery depends on how far the delivery driver goes to deliver the food and how long it takes them to get there. Usually, this is around $6-7 for the first mile, then an additional $2-4 every mile after that.
If you’re ordering from a restaurant that is super close, free delivery promotions don’t make sense. But if you’re ordering from a place that is even three miles away, then opting to apply the free delivery promotion suddenly starts to look more appealing.
To claim this promotion, you don’t need an Uber Eats code. All you need to do is click this link and you’ll be taken to a landing page that prompts you to download the app.
How To Apply An Uber Eats Coupon Code
You need to follow some easy steps to add an Uber Eats promo code to your user account:
- Open the Uber Eats app and go to the menu.
- Select “PAYMENTS”.
- Select add “Uber Eats promo code”.
- Enter the code “EATSYUM6“ and tap apply.
And now you have successfully added a promo code which also saves you money your first orders.
Some people might be using older versions of the app. In that case, follow these steps:
- Open the Uber Eats app and go to the menu.
- Select “PROMOTIONS”.
- Select “add Uber Eats promo code”.
- Enter the code “EATSYUM6“ and tap apply.
Activation happens after entering the promo code. Promo codes for some reason also act in reverse orders of how you are adding them so the most recent one will be applied to your delivery.
Promo Codes For Existing Uber Eats Users
People are always excited to use a new app and claim free stuff using a promo code in exchange for signing up. But after you’ve claimed a promotion and redeemed whatever the company was giving away, there’s much less chance that you’ll find codes in the future and that excitement starts dying.
While there are less ways for existing users to obtain Uber Eats credits and free shipping, discounted orders still aren’t that hard to find. You just have to know where to look.
Lucky for you, there’s a simple and easy feature already embedded in the app that unlocks these deals.
Existing Uber Eats users can take advantage of their unique referral code within their account. Sharing this code with friends, similar to how we’ve provided ours above, will earn hungry users free credit good towards their favorite restaurants.
How does it work? It’s simple.
How It Works
Once an existing Uber Eats user refers a new user to the platform and an order is completed, both parties will see a credit applied to their account.
For years, both Uber and Lyft have rewarded existing users for referring their friends by offering extensive amounts of free ride credit in exchange for the referral. By tapping into their customer base and offering a simple reward, the cost for the company to acquire a new customer drops, and another potential long-term revenue stream is ushered in.
This program has worked so well that it’s often cited as the reason Uber and Lyft got so big, so quickly. And it makes sense. Why would users not refer their friends for free credit?
So we can tell the program clearly works. But how do you get in on the action?
Find Your Code For Existing Users
The first step in earning credit for referring new users is to find the referral code within your account.
On the menu, click “Free Food”, or the ad at the bottom of the screen that says “get $5 off your order”.
You will then be taken to the “Free Food” page, which will display your unique referral code, and outline the terms and conditions of the program.
Once you share that code with a new user, both you and the user will be eligible for free account credit. Within my personal app, my referral program offers me $5 credit for each referral. However, the amounts vary by city and change often.
You can share this credit with friends through text message, email, or social media. Uber makes it easy to get rewarded, and even easier to spread the word about the app.
Yes, you can share your code with friends in conversation, or recommend a new user downloads the app. But if you really want to hit it big, the key is to get creative.
You can do all sorts of promotions to get the word out.
- Print off fake parking tickets with your referral code and put them on cars during happy hour.
- Create a street team and walk around handing out flyers.
- Come up with unique social media campaigns and pitch them to influencers.
It doesn’t matter what you do with the code, as long as it’s creative. You’ll find that more often than not, these campaigns will work really well.
Just keep in mind that you can’t share the codes via paid traffic like Google’s Adwords or Facebook’s ad platform. You also should avoid sharing it via coupon sites like Retailmenot or Couponify. Otherwise, the sky is the limit!
Features Making Things Easier

They feature a range of options from local restaurants, from sushi to burgers and even fresh, cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juice!
