UberSUV is Uber’s luxury SUV service. In general, these are usually one of the most expensive ride request options. Although the fare may vary from city to city, the level of sophistication associated with UberSUV remains the same.

For example, even though this rideshare service has the abbreviation SUV in its name, not all SUVs are permitted. Unlike the more lenient UberXL, extra restrictions are set in place. To accept these types of ride requests, a driver’s vehicle must be of a certain make and model.

What are the Driver and Vehicle Requirements?

The prospect of accepting such a sophisticated ride request and earning major cash is pretty exciting. To do so, you will need to make sure that you and your vehicle meet the following requirements.

UberSUV Driver Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Have at least 3 years of driving experience
  • No past accidents
  • Lack a criminal record
  • Outside of Vehicle:
  • All windows must be in good condition
  • Vehicle must be black
  • Absence of scratches
  • Zero dents
  • Vehicle number in the back and front
  • No rust or oxidation of paint
  • All vehicle emblems intact

Vehicle Requirements:

  • Car needs to have four doors
  • Transmission needs to be manual
  • Vehicle needs to pass Uber’s vehicle inspection
  • Only black leather seats
  • No damage to upholstery
  • Zero stains visible
  • Air-conditioning and heater must work

In addition to these restrictions, there is a make and model regulation in place. The following vehicles qualify for UberSUV status:

  • Toyota Sequoia
  • Lincoln Navigator
  • Infiniti QX60
  • GMC Denali, GMC Yukon XL,
  • Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, CLS-Class, E-Class, G-Class, M-Class, and a few more
  • Nissan Armada
  • Audi (A3, A4, A6, A7, A8, Allroad, Q5, Q7, RS 7, S4, S6, S7, S8, and SQ5)
  • Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe
  • Cadillac Escalade, DTS, CTS, and a few more
  • GMC Yukon
  • Lexus (ES, GS, GX, HS, LS, LX, RX)
  • Ford Expedition

What can you Expect to Make as an UberSUV Driver?

When you promote yourself to a higher rideshare service, the paycheck increases as well. With this level of rideshare being a higher tier, drivers typically earn more than those fulfilling UberX, UberPOOL, and UberXL rides. Earnings instead are on par with luxury services like UberSELECT and UberLUX.

Passengers that request an UberSUV pay a base fee of about $14, which will go up from there as the ride progresses.

Advice for Driving for UberSUV

Even though the base fare for an UberSUV is high, it is easy for drivers to miss out on maximizing pay. One common misconception is that you’ll make more money if you accept more, shorter ride requests.

This is not the case. In the long-run, you are better off accepting ride requests that last a decent length of time.

To find these longer ride requests, scope out the wealthiest parts of your city. Key locations to look for are rich neighborhoods, luxury hotels, and high-end shopping centers. Although these areas may be inconsistent with ride requests, it’s definitely worth it in the end.

Driving at the Right Time

Timing plays a major part in success with this level of rideshare service. This service is used by those who have to travel early and often for business. To capitalize on this, drivers should consider ditching the night shift and start driving early in the morning.

Passengers making this type of rideshare requests are looking to ride in a clean, comfortable vehicle. Due to this, cleanliness and vehicle maintenance is mandatory. Every day, take the time to wipe down your seats and upholstery.
