Is the TurboAnt V8 electric scooter for you?

image of TurboAnt V8 review

The TurboAnt V8 electric scooter is undoubtedly one of the most stylish for the price.

If you are looking for a commuter electric scooter that will help you run your errands without worrying much about charge, then the V8 has your back.

Coming with a single 450W hub motor at the front, the V8 is a relatively fast scooter, especially when you engage in the Speed mode.

In any case, this scooter isn’t the fastest but aims to please more for the range than the top speed.

If you are an adult weighing up to 275 lbs, then the premium-quality TurboAnt V8 is a reliable workhorse that will leave you satisfied.

The most exceptional features we find in the V8 comprise its certified water resistance rating of IP54, dual batteries, cruise control to keep the hand relaxed while riding, and high-quality 9.5-inch pneumatic tires.

We love describing the TurboAnt V8 as a very difficult-to-beat practical scooter for its price. Regardless of your scooter riding experience, this beauty fits any demographic class.

Top Speed

Coming with a single hub motor at the front, the TurboAnt V8 scooter is rated to hit a top speed of 20 miles per hour (32km/h).

During our tests, the best we recorded using our GPS tracker was 18.8 miles per hour (30.2km/h).

This was on a completely flat surface, which is ideally where we test the other scooters on our database.

Of course, the top speed has to vary based on the rider’s weight, riding conditions, the current condition of the scooter’s battery and motor, and to some extent the rider’s experience.

Top Range

Coming with dual 36V 7.5Ah Lithium batteries, the V8 is rated to hit a top mileage of 50 miles (80km) before asking for more charge.

We recorded a top mileage of 48.7 miles (78km) before our scooter died and asked for some more charge.

This beauty just kept going and going, which shows it can be a perfect scooter for your commuting.

Batteries

TurboAnt V8 electric scooter features a battery beneath the deck and another on the stem.

These 36V 7.5Ah batteries charge in only 4 hours.

We noticed that the battery on the stem is the only swappable of the two.

To charge this specific battery, you can remove it and charge it in the dock or just charge it on the scooter.

For the undetachable one under the deck, you have to charge it on the scooter.

If you are wondering whether the scooter will still work when one of the batteries is out of charge, then Yes.

However, we recommend that you have all the batteries installed to achieve optimal functioning of the ride.

Braking

Brakes in an electric scooter are the most important safety feature and ought to be on point.

Featuring a dual braking system (disc and rear electronic), the TurboAnt V8 e-scooter provides the rider with the best assurance that should there be the need for sudden stopping, then they will be safe.

We recommend that you adjust these brakes immediately after you get your scooter to enhance their stopping power to your likeness.

The braking distance we recorded to come from a top speed of 15 miles per hour to 0 is 3.1 meters.

Compared to most eclectic scooters in its class, we can tell you that this ride has decent stopping power.

Hill climbing

The TurboAnt V8 scooter is a relatively good hill climber.

With a climbing ability of 15 degrees, we reached the peak in 13 seconds of a 60 meters hill at a speed of 24km/h.

This is all necessitated by the nominal power output of 450W in the front motor.

The overall riding experience

Long-range electric scooters undoubtedly need to be comfortable and it seems like TurboAnt got this right while manufacturing their V8 model.

With 19.9-inch (50.5 cm) handlebars, this scooter perfectly fits even tall riders.

The deck is long and wide enough (50cm and 17.5cm, respectively) which means even heavy dawgs weighing 250 lbs will be able to ride their scooter comfortably.

Its dual suspension at the rear and the large 9.5-inch pneumatic tires help with enhancing the comfort, not to forget the 10.5cm ground clearance.

In fact, while riding the V8 off the road, it chews dirt and vibrations, as is expected of any scooter worth its salt.

Typically, this V8 of electric scooters provides a buttery smooth riding experience and helps to inhibit the fatigue associated with riding an e-scooter for long.

Lastly and probably what you wanted to hear, we didn’t record any stem wobble while riding at full throttle.

We are actually happy for TurboAnt for making an e-scooter that doesn’t produce any stem wobble.

Not even at the tires.

TurboAnt V8 Features

Foldability

image of Folded TurboAnt V8 electric scooter

With the ability to fold in just 3 seconds, the V8 electric scooter has one of the fastest folding mechanisms ever.

When folded, the TurboAnt V8 scooter measures 45.7 × 19.9 × 18.1 inches, which means it will effortlessly fit in a small car’s trunk.

Once unfolded, its measurements are 45.7 × 19.9 × 45.5 inches.

Portability

Weighing only 21.6kg (47.62 lbs), the TurboAnt V8 e-scooter is one of the most portable scooters in its class.

For this weight, most adults won’t have any problem with lifting the scooter upstairs or even putting it inside their car’s trunks.

Cockpit

image of TurboAnt V8 handlebars

If you hate crowded scooter cockpits, then the TurboAnt V8 e-scooter is perhaps your best choice.

The handlebars are fairly long (50.5cm) with firm grips that offer the best positioning of the hand while riding.

These handlebars are firm enough to necessitate the optimal positioning of the shoulders and keep the rider comfortable throughout the journey.

On the right-hand side of the handlebar, there is a power button that acts as the control prompt for the different settings of the scooter.

On the left-hand side, there is a brake lever.

On the mid-section where the stem meets the handlebars, you have your LCD Display that provides read-ons such as if brakes are applied, current speed, the riding mode, battery level, cruise control, output of the throttle, and if the headlights are on/off.

Ride modes

The TurboAnt V8 electric scooter provides the owner with 3 different riding modes.

The first mode is the ECO, where you get the most range from.

When you engage this mode, you will ride at speed of between 1 and 6 miles per hour.

The second is the Comfort mode which acts as the standard mode for those looking at both worlds of speed and mileage.

When you kick it in, you will ride at anywhere between 6.1 to 9 miles per hour.

The third mode is the fastest.

Also referred to as the Sport mode, you can expect to hit the provided top speed of 20 miles per hour with this riding mode.

The sport mode is perfect for those who wish to go faster and cut the riding time or beat a specific deadline.

Lights

TurboAnt V8 Lights

TurboAnt V8 scooter comes with a 3W headlight placed strategically at the top-most part of the stem.

This light is bright enough to reach the ground with the much-needed visibility.

On the rear, the V8 features 4 ambient lights placed under the deck and a LED Red Tail light to keep the rider safer while cruising at night.

Manufacturing

Manufactured using an aluminum frame alloy, you can expect the TurboAnt V8 e-scooter to be one of the sturdiest budget electric scooters for adults.

Tires

image of TurboAnt V8 tires

Featuring 9.5-inch pneumatic tires, you can expect the shock absorption to be much better than if this scooter featured the solid tire type.

When coupled with the dual spring suspension at the rear, there is little to no fatigue with the rider.
