When Uber and Lift came onto the scene they completely disrupted the transportation industry.
rideshare completely changed the way people thought about commuting by removing the friction related to calling and waiting for a taxi. Now, the thought of waving down a cab or calling someone seems borderline barbaric when compared to tapping a few buttons on a mobile app.
The transportation revolution is nowhere near the end. On the horizon, there are super high-speed trains, completely autonomous cars, and who knows what else?
But until we have flying cars, the revolution is happening closer to the ground.
Dockless electric scooters are the latest innovation that’s shaking up the transportation industry. Bird Electric Scooters is leading the charge by providing on-demand electric scooter rentals at the touch of a button.
In this article, we are going to cover how you can get a free scooter ride by using a Bird Scooter promo code.

How Do I Enter a Bird Promo Code?
Using a coupon code on Bird is very similar to entering a code on Uber or Lyft. Remember this promo code is first new users only, that means you’ve never used the app before.
When you first download the app, you will be asked to enter your payment information; this is where you’ll enter the code.
If you’ve had the app for a while but still haven’t taken a ride, you can still input a discount count.
- Open the app and bring up the Bird menu (it’s the little button on the top left of the screen)
- Select “Payment”
- Hit “ENTER CODE”
- Enter the code TAKEFLIGHT
- That’s it! When you’re done, you should receive this message:
Watch Out for Fake Codes
Whenever you’re using a promo code, make sure it’s one that came from a legitimate source. There are lots of fake codes online, so you must be cautious. It’s best to stick with referral codes from family and friends, codes that come from trusted sources — like us! — or codes that come from Bird itself.
There’s no fun in entering a promo code hoping to save a few dollars on a ride only to find out that the code is fake. Save yourself a headache and use codes that come from legitimate places.
The codes posted here are always legitimate, so you can always check back with us for updates and additional discount offers.
If you try a code that you think is valid but can’t get it to work, try contacting Bird. They might be able to verify the code for you and let you know if it’s legitimate.
What Is Bird’s Give $5, Get $5 Referral Program?
Bird has a cool referral program called Give $5, Get $5. It’s a great way to earn free rides with the help of your friends. You’ll get $5, and you can tell your friends they’ll get $5 off your first ride! It’s an enticing opportunity to pile up some free credits for free rides.
To take advantage of the program, open the Bird scooter app and go to the section where it says “Free Rides.”
After you select “Send Free Rides,” there will be a variety of options depending on your phone (iPhone or Android).
You can select to send a text message or email with your Bird promo code to family and friends in your contact. You can also share your promo code on Facebook or Twitter.
By sharing the referral code with family and friends, you can give a friend a free ride (up to a $5 value).
When they complete their first ride, you’ll also get a free ride (or $5 off a trip that costs more).
After the $1 unlocking fee, Bird rentals only cost $0.15 per minute, so a $5 ride is worth a good 25 minutes on the road!
At this point, there is no limit to the number of free rides you can share. So you may as well share the offer with everyone you know that you think might be interested in using the service.
The more new users you can get to try out Bird, the more money you can save on your Bird rides.
There’s a good chance that if you’re a Bird fan, you’ve probably already told your friends, coworkers, and family about how excellent the service is. And now with the Give $5, Get $5 referral program, it’s the perfect time for them to give it a try.
If you love the service, encourage others to test it out. Many people that live and work in major cities are sick of traffic and tired of the daily commute. Bird is cost-effective, eco-friendly, and a lot more fun than sitting in traffic trying to get to or from the office.
The Give $5, Get $5 program is a win-win for everyone. You’ll win by earning $5 off for every new user you can get to try the service. Your friends win by getting to take $5 off their first ride.
And Bird wins because they get new users who (they hope) will turn into frequent repeat customers.
How Can I Find My Bird Referral Code?
Before you can share your code or post it anywhere, you’ll need to find it. To locate your referral code, open the Bird app. Tap the menu in the upper left-hand corner and go back to the Give a Ride, Get a Ride tab.
Remember that option to email your friends a link to download the app? When you click the option to email a friend, you’ll code will appear:
With that code in hand, get to work. The more people you can encourage to use the service, the more discounts you’ll pile up and the more money you’ll save on your own rides.
If you want to use your referral code to earn discounts on future rides, there are some creative ways to do it. The obvious thing to do is share it with family and friends. But with a few strategic tactics, you can get strangers to use your code and add free ride credits to your account, too.
To maximize exposure for your referral code, consider printing up business cards with your code. You can leave them at coffee shops, drop them off in libraries, or leave them in hotel lobbies. Just make sure you get permission from the business or location first.
You can also create fliers and hang them up around town. Keep your personal information to a minimum – a phone number or email to contact you with questions is sufficient. There’s no need to put all your information out there for strangers to see.
Another great way to reach out to new potential Bird users is to post your code on social media.
Encourage your friends, family, and followers to share your code on their social media channels, too. This can help you gain exposure to people who wouldn’t usually see your posts. It’s worth a shot.
Are There Any Other Ways to Get a Free Scooter Ride?
Aside from the Give $5, Get $5 referral program, there are some other ways to enjoy a free or discounted scooter ride. As with most rideshare companies and similar services, Bird wants to get new users to sign up and rent their scooters.
So first time users can access a one-time promo code to give them a chance to enjoy a free Bird scooter ride.
Another way to earn discounts and offers is to follow Bird on social media. Visit Bird regularly on their social media pages, and you’ll be able to access different deals.
You’ll enjoy real-time updates and be the first to know about current promotions, exclusive discount offers, and new ways to save on rides.
Bird will also periodically send “Free Bird Rides” emails to their subscribers. When you signed up for the service, you automatically subscribed to their list.
Don’t unsubscribe! If you do, you won’t be able to take advantage of offers like this:
As we mentioned above, it’s always best to get codes from trusted, reliable sources. Getting one from Bird itself is undoubtedly the best way to get one.
And when you find a promo on Bird’s social media, you’ll know 100% that the code is viable, valid, and real!
How Much Do Bird Scooters Cost?
Even without a coupon code, electric scooters are relatively inexpensive to rent, which is probably why scooter rental companies such as Bird and Lime are so popular.
To unlock a motorized scooter is $1.00, from there it is $0.15 a minute. That’s pretty cheap when you compare it to other modes of transportation.
Let’s put this into perspective.
Say you rent a Bird for $1.00 and your destination is three miles away. Bird scooters have a top speed of 15 mph. That means you can get to your destination in 12 minutes if you are maxing out the speed the whole time.
That means you will have to pay $1.80 (12 minutes x $0.15) plus $1.00 for the rental. That is just $2.80 for a 12-minute journey.
This is pretty cheap, especially when compared to taking an Uber POOL or Lyft Line. Plus, with a scooter, you don’t need to worry about a driving making multiple stops to pick up other passengers.
If that’s still too rich for your blood, test out the scooters by using a Bird promo code. This code will give you free ride credits. The amount varies by city, but it is usually one free ride for first-time users.
We can all agree that eco-friendly transportation options will play an important part role in the future of commuting. Bird is doing its part to make it happen with their dockless electric scooter system.
We love that the scooters are super affordable, costing just $1 to unlock and only 15 cents a minute after that.
