Uber Tip Sign: Professionally Designed [Free Download]

If you drive for Uber, you probably rely on tips as an additional source of driver income. After all, the more that Uber cuts fares, the less drivers make as a result.

In the past, Uber went as far as discouraging tipping, and directly told riders to NOT tip. But thanks to a recent lawsuit and changes in Uber’s policies, as of July 2017, Uber has now incorporated a tipping feature directly into the passenger app. This feature is a small win for drivers, but many riders still aren’t aware of the changes, and are still used to the old ways of doing things.

So what’s a driver to do?

The answer is simpler than you may think: simply ask.

But before you rush out and start asking passengers to tip when the ride is done, keep in mind that directly asking a passenger to tip is rude, awkward for them, and will more often than not lead to a low rating. Passengers don’t like being obligated to tip, let alone directly asked. I’ve had it happen a few times before, and needless to say, I was put off by it and definitely didn’t leave a tip.

That’s where the Uber tip sign comes in handy.

Uber Tip Sign

Since it’s in poor taste to ask passengers directly for tips, many drivers have gotten creative and started creating Uber tip signs to display in their cars. These types of signs are typically attached to a headrest, perfectly in view of passengers taking a ride.

Budding entrepreneurs are also selling these signs on Ebay, Amazon, and Etsy, but often at price points that are higher than many drivers would like to pay.

After seeing many sellers online charging $8, $10, even $15 for a tip sign, we reached out to our friends over at Lime Resumes, a creator of high-end resume templates, to see what they could do for us.

They agreed to create a few professionally-designed tipping signs for us, and now we’re offering them for free to drivers. The only thing we’re asking in return is for a share on either Facebook or Twitter.

This tip sign is a generic sign that is perfect for Uber drivers looking to subtly prompt riders to tip and rate 5 stars. The clean lines and simple layout will be noticed by passengers, but not come across as overly pushy.

It’s a nice touch to gently remind them that good tips and ratings are both something that rideshare drivers depend on to keep providing quality service.

Like our first sign, this tip sign is another great way for rideshare drivers to encourage riders to tip and give a good rating without coming across as too pushy.

What we really like about this sign is how the rating portion pops off the page. The contrast is eye-catching, which riders will likely notice.
